When you think of reducing signs of aging, your mind probably goes toward crows feet and frown lines, but do you realize how big of a part your hands play in a youthful appearance? Many don’t, but consider this, no matter what you wear, where you go, or what the occasion is, your hands will typically show, so…here is what you need to know:

1. Moisturize with SPF 15+: Just like your face, moisturizer with Sun Screen is of utmost importance when it comes to the health and well being of your skin; your hands are not excluded. Wrinkles, age spots, and damaged elasticity and even skin cancer can be avoided by using a Moisturizer with SPF 15 or higher.

2. Trim Your Claws: Neatly trimmed nails with clear or neutral polish will take 5 or more years off your hands. Acrylic nails, bright polishes, and nail charms are OUT. Clean and well kept is the new “now”, for good reason.

3. Reduce Scars: Mederma scar treatment will reduce the appearance and redness of scars after roughly 6 weeks of religious application. Just be sure you apply Mederma Scar treatment to the skin BEFORE applying your Moisturizer with SPF.

4. Lay off the Jewels: A few complimentary pieces of jewelry are all you need to showcase your accessories. Unless you’re on your way to New York City to sell the stuff on the streets to tourists, you only need to be wearing so much. Too much "Bling" is simply too much for the eye to take in, (and unless you’re competing with Madge, the eccentric old woman at the end of the block, then choose wisely and moderately).

5. Drink Water: If you notice your hands are puffy or your fingers feel tight, it’s a sign you need to be drinking more water; And not only to look and feel better, but for your general health overall. We’re made of over 70% H2o, and by the time you begin to retain it, dehydration has already set in.

You only get one set of hands; treat them gently, protect, nourish, and care for them. And remember, your hands reveal more about your age than your face ever will.

(Why? Because, your hands can’t smile).
