Staying around Boston this summer? Don't worry, there's lots to see and do. If you haven't yet checked out the South End Open Market, this Sunday is your day, 10am - 4pm. For six years the Market has been landing at 540 Harrison Avenue in the heart of the South End's comtemporary arts district every Sunday, May through October. The market hosts a wide variety of local artists and artisans showing and selling their work, in addition to an antiques market, new to this show season, and the always delicious breads, pastries, and produce brought in by area farmers and bakeries.
One of the regular exhibitors at the South End Open Market is polymer clay jewelry artist Betsy Baker of Stonehouse Studio.
Baker's work is contemporary and modern with a romantic flair. Her colors, designs, and jewelry types have such a variety that you are sure to find a piece to compliment your own sense of style.
Be sure to check out her image transfers onto polymer clay, and if you can't tell which pieces have image transfers, ask - they are well worth seeing, learning about, and collecting! That's a real perk when you buy directly from an artist, you get to ask them how they make their work and learn something in addition to bringing home a beautiful piece.
Another craft artist who will be showing this Sunday at the Market is Beth Brennick of Elizabeth Brennick Designs. Brennick creates many different types of accessories and clothing items, for both adults and children.
The colors and fabric patterns Brennick chooses for her original designs are vibrant and fun, while her craftsmanship is of the highest quality. A great combination when shopping for hand stitched clothing, bags, home goods, and accent items.
Don't miss the poppy flower hair accessories that are new to Brennick's 2009 display!
