On November 7th and 8th there will be a conference held in Boston that is relevant to all artists and arts professionals titled, Creative Massachusetts: The Artists Congress 2009 - Welcoming Artists of all Disciplines to a Discussion of Our Creative Future.
The two-day gathering of visual artists, curators, writers, musicians, designers and visionaries will cover such topics as running an arts business, finding and applying for artist grants, creating an arts community, and networking. The conference was created by The Massachusetts Artists Leadership Coalition (MALC) that operates with a mission "to bring together artists leaders of all disciplines and artist(s) run organizations, initiatives, and businesses around key issues facing Massachusetts artists working in all disciplines... we are all committed to improving the social and economic position of all Massachusetts artists. The overall goal is to empower our community, support our artists leaders, and to mentor new artists leaders. We want to ensure that artists are at the policy making table"
Creative Massachusetts is co-sponsored by the Kirstein Business Branch of the Boston Public Library
and the Massachusetts Artists Leaders Coalition. The conference will be held at the Boston Public Library,
700 Boylston Street. This is a free event open to all Massachusetts artists of disciplines: visual, craft, literary, new media, performing artists, and more.
