Founded in 1976, the Photographic Resource Center (PRC) at Boston University is an independent non-profit organization that serves as a forum for the exploration and interpretation of new work, ideas, and methods in photography and related media. The PRC presents exhibitions, fosters education, develops resources, and facilitates community interaction for local, regional, and national audiences. It is an incredible organization for all photographers, Boston’s photographic community especially, and anyone studying the photographic arts and history. Resources supplied by the PRC are designed to keep anyone with an interest in photography apprised of photography related information and happenings. Resources include a comprehensive website, a quarterly newsletter and a 4,000 volume library.
The programs and exhibitions of the Photographic Resource Center are made possible largely through the generous support of its members, and through the support of photography enthusiasts who purchase photographic work at the annual PRC Benefit Auction. The annual auction is always a great night of festivities featuring the work of prominent and emerging artists.
The PRC Benefit Auction is a great way to support this valuable local organization and go home with one or more amazing photographs. Tickets are available at the door, or sooner, by calling the PRC. If you can't attend the actual event the PRC will bid for you on any item. Visit the PRC's online auction catalogue to view the nearly 200 photographs that are available in the 2008 auction.
Tickets for this gala event are $70 per current member; $75 per non-member; $250 for 4 tickets, $500 for 10 tickets. The ticket price includes one copy of the auction catalogue, one paddle for bidding in the live auction, buffet from East Meets West, beverages, and parking with advance reservations.
The 2008 PRC Benefit Auction will be held this Saturday, October 25 at the 808 Gallery at 808 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston. The reception and silent auction begins at 5:30pm, the live auction begins at 7:00pm.
