San Francisco’s own LUCE will play an upcoming show at the Great American Music Hall. The show, scheduled for July 11th at 8:00 PM, will be the CD release show for their long awaited album, Corner of the World.

The band has received a lot of success since their start, with frontman Tom Luce writing songs for his first self-titled album in his bedroom in San Francisco’s Richmond District. His music, namely the single “Good Day”, was picked up by radio stations in San Francisco and the Hollywood area, as well as featured in movies like How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days and 13 Going on 30, as well as TV shows Alias and The OC.

The success continued as the band played with more mainstream bands, such as the Goo Goo Dolls. LUCE’s second album, Neverending, was released in the spring of 2005, and fans welcomed it eagerly. A year and a half later, the band’s work paid off as LUCE was named “Best Band You Should Know About” by a San Francisco magazine. The following Spring, a streak of bad luck struck the band, and the band lost everything in both a house fire and when their trailer was stolen on tour. Tom Luce decided to quit after their misfortune.

After spending some time thinking it over, Luce decided, “I couldn’t give it all up. Music is my life, my dream. It’s what I do best.” He worked hard to bring the band back together, and to get them to the place they were prior to the break-up. His work paid off once again, and in 2008, LUCE signed with Opus Music Ventures, a Bay Area record label.

Now, it is 2009 and LUCE is just days away from releasing their new album. It is so much more than just an album release for the band though. “It is our new beginning. It is our recovery, our answer, our own lightning bolt,” Luce says. He claims that the only reason they were able to put this album out was because of the help and support of their family, friends and fans. “This CD is for all of us. It is the only way we know to give you all something to show how grateful we are. This CD is for you. Thank you.”

The album release will also feature San Francisco bands The Gun and Doll Show, and Pollux. You can buy tickets below.
