The World-Anti-Doping Authority (WADA) is looking at a new method that would allow wider testing for the blood boosting hormone EPO. The current testing method available is expensive and complicated. Arne Ljungqvist, vice president of WADA, did not provide details of the new process at a blood doping symposium over the weekend citing that its effectiveness needed to be verified. If successful, this new method could be used more widely than the current system.
This is great news, but did it need to be announced publically? If more athletes were testing positive for EPO than perhaps the use would go down. This is a preventative strike hoping for the same outcome.
