Last week was a bit iffy for my predictions, as I went just 3-3. I predicted Duke over Maryland, Notre Dame over Boston College, and Georgia Tech over Virginia, while missing on Navy beating Wake Forest, Clemson upsetting Miami, and Florida State rallying to beat North Carolina.
This week, I hope to improve with four conference games on the slate, as well as three non-conference games.
Nothing to See Here:
Clemson over Coastal Carolina
Georgia Tech 31, Vanderbilt 17: Vanderbilt is 0-5 in the SEC and Georgia Tech is 5-1 in the ACC. There's a gap between these two conferences, but it's not big enough to make up that difference.
Virginia Tech 31, North Carolina 13: North Carolina's offense has had lots of issues. Virginia Tech has had no problems at home this year. Both of these problems will continue.
Mildly Intriguing:
Florida State 31, NC State 21: Florida State won their first conference game last week, and the Seminoles high-powered offense will continue to soar at home in Tallahassee. North Carolina State will likely fall to 0-4 in conference.
Duke 24, Virginia 20: Who would have thought both of these teams would be 2-1 in conference? Duke is just two wins away from being bowl-eligible, and I think they will get one of those wins here.
The Appetizer
Miami 31, Wake Forest 23: Miami is coming off their second ACC loss of the season, and if they have any shot of winning the Coastal Division they need to win this game on the road in Winston-Salem. I think Randy Shannon's squad has the weapons and enough defense to accomplish that feat.
The Main Course:
Boston College 34, Central Michigan 30: Central Michigan is the best team you have never heard of. Unlike schools like Boise State and TCU, they have no chance to bust the BCS, but this 7-1 team out of the MAC can really put up points on the board. They have already beaten Michigan State on the road this season, and are looking to take down another major conference foe. The Eagles are 5-0 at home this season though, and I think they will add to that total.
Last week: 3-3
Overall: 47-17
