HP, Running with Intel's newest line of i7 core based processors the new HP 15, and the Core 2 Duo S HP13 Envy class notebooks pack a powerful punch. The new Envy notebooks will both be under an inch thick with the 13-inch weighing in around 3.7 pounds and the larger more powerful 15-inch notebook at about 5.1 lbs. Both products have dropped optical drives to save weight as well as battery power.

The baby of the bunch, the Envy 13 will run on a slightly different processor core, the low power Intel Core 2 Duo S. It will clock around 1.86 ghz. To push itself over the Macbook Air specs, HP has included a Mobile Radeon HD 4330 with dedicated memory, and the option of 3, 4, or 5gb of RAM, a 250gb hard-drive and the ability to last 7 hours on the stock 9-cell battery. This notebook will debut for around $1,700.

Like the smaller 13-inch Envy, the slightly bigger, more powerful Envy 15 will come with even more performance and value. The new HP Envy 15 as stated will be running on a mobile version of Intel's Core i7 quad-core processors and like its little brother, if configured properly HP states the notebook could also last as long as 7 hours on a single charge. No details on exact speeds but in addition to the high performing i7, HP is including a Mobility Radeon HD 4830 with a dedicated 1gb of memory. No more sacrificing on-board memory to supplement your graphics, not that you would worry as the Envy 15 has the ability to pack up to 16gb of DDR3. HP says it should start from around $1,800. Only $100 more than the 2-inch smaller less powerfully configured Envy-13.

Both notebooks come in aluminum-and-black shells with color accurate displays, Apple-esqu clickpads, a Monster's Beats computer audio package and will ship out just a few days prior to the Windows 7 release. October 18th.

HP will also be producing a limited edition of this notebook, the Envy 15 Beats edition. The limited edition of this notebook is said to come packaged with , an eye appealing red and black high-gloss color scheme and Beats by Dre over-the-ear headphones. There are currently no exact details, excluding its powerful i7 and Mobility Radeon HD 4830 - The Beats edition is expected to ship on October 22nd. The same days as the release of Windows 7.
