Emmy Award red carpet January Jones
January Jones in Versace

The 61st Annual Emmy Awards took place Sunday evening and the award for the absolute best dressed starlet is January Jones. The Mad Men star was flawless in a gown that demonstrates what classic  looks like for the new millenium. The modern gal from an oldie show wore a pink quartz silk satin evening gown with an embroidered glass beaded bustier by Versace. She added Neil Lane jewels and platform sandals from Jimmy Choo.

Followed up closely was House actress, Olivia Wilde.

Olivia Wilde wore a white gown directly out of the Marchesa, spring 2010 collection with a clutch and Kwiat jewelry.

The mesh detailing down the chest and spread out across most of the back was just the right amount of sexy for the red carpet. Her pulled back do added to the elegance of her dress.

Emmy Leighton Meester

Leighton Meester was stunning in this white Bottega Veneta gown and clutch. The Venetian inspired gown coupled with crimson lips and clutch was a delicious touch to a very grown up look for the Gossip Girl star. Her jewelry was from Cathy Waterman.

Emmy - Blake Lively
Blake Lively in Versace

Blake Lively wore a draped Versace gown with scale detailing in the back, Christian Louboutin shoes, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. In past award shows, Lively seemed to arrive straight out-of-bed with messy elements including hair, wrinkled gown, and a lazy pose. This awards show, Lively looked well put together with neatly pulled back hair and a touch of ice on the ears and wrist.

Blake's full frontal rated an A + +. Her side view, on the other hand, was awkward - the added hair piece for her ponytail was grossly transparent with two different hair colors, confirming she was wearing a hair-piece, and an odd petrusion from which the ponytail hung. But still, particularly since the awkwardness came from the back of her head, she was a breathtaking look on the red carpet.

Emmy - Anastasia Griffith

Anastasia Griffith also chose a more modern gown for the red carpet and the result was tres chic. Her golden locks pulled to the side was red carpet hair at its best.

The two toned bodice was flattering and original.

Stay tuned for more on the best of the red carpet, the best/worst dressed cast ensemble, the beauty award, and the best hair.
