Macy's and Clinton Kelly of TLC's What Not To Wear is making over America one city at a time. Clinton Kelly will visit Macy's stores in 15 cities and select 15 women in each city to help him put on a fashion show. One grand prize winner will receive a trip for two to NYC, a head-to-toe makeover by the makeover king, Clinton Kelly, and a $5000 shopping spree.

Clinton Kelly has been making over America through his show, What Not To Wear, for 6 seasons. Before his television debut with TLC, he was an executive editor at DNR, a publication reporting on men's fashion and retail, as well as a deputy editor at Mademoiselle magazine and contributing editor at Marie Claire.

I sat down with Clinton Kelly to get some tips on dressing smart and to get his view on how we ladies generally do when it comes to dressing our body types. Do we have a good sense of our bodies and how to dress ourselves? Clinton's response, from his experience of remaking women, we do not always have a good sense of our body types. Quel nightmare! When giving women makeovers he comes across two kinds of women - the ones "who are like 'do whatever you like' and others who have a strong opinion of what they will wear," Kelly says.

Well strong opinion or not, ladies, he is the expert so I took the opportunity to pick his brain. I played a fill-in-the-blank game with the upbeat makeover guru to get some tips on dressing common body types. Here are some quick tips from Clinton Kelly ... at no cost to you:

If your midsection is the widest part of your body, try wearing a jacket.

If you have heavy legs, always wear wide and straight leg jeans.

If you are chesty, stay away from clingy knits.

If you are hippie, you can get away with Aline skirt.

If you have a boyish figure, never wear boy clothes.

If you are short, never wear long skirts.

If you are tall, always wear skirts [that fall] below the knee.

If you are curvy, always wear structured clothes.

If your backyard is bangin like a benzy (a big bottom) do not wear shirts or jackets that are too high above your bottom or too long "we know it's there!" - it should fall at mid hip. The vest (pictured) reaches about mid hip and is a great piece to add to your summer regalia. Pick it up at Shopbop.com.
