The Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala took place last night in NYC and A-list celebrities and fashion figures were out in droves. The color of the night was undoubtedly cobalt blue with celebrities, such as Jessica Alba, Blake Lively, and Cindy Crawford, dressed in the rich color.
The event - co chaired by Marc Jacobs, Kate Moss, Justin Timberlake, and Anna Wintour - subtitled The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion featured a presentation at the museum of the greatest super models ever photographed by the greatest photographers. Last year, the gala's theme centered around super heroes where the press nailed the red carpet ensembles despite fitting the theme.
Last night's red carpet showed a bevy of gorgeous gowns on the most celebrated faces. The surprises of the evening: Ashley Olsen in a chic, white low back gown; Madonna in thigh boots, a Louis Vuitton dress, and a head piece that looked like bunny ears; Victoria Beckham in a one shouldered, polka-dot Louis Vuitton short dress with tail of sorts; and Leighton Meester in a pasley pantsuit with bow-tie pumps. There is no better event to don the ensemble of your inner heart's desire than at the Met Gala. Anne Hathaway took the time to tap into her inner Wonder Woman in a short, eggplant colored Marc Jacobs dress and Linda Carter hair - are they still looking to cast that role? If so, I have recommendations.
My favorites of the night, and please keep in mind that this is a Costume Gala, were Heidi Klum, Leighton Meester, Jessica Biel and Rihanna who donned a fearless Dolce & Gabbana tuxe.
