Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy in Strasbourg, France.

First Ladies Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy had their much anticipated first meeting today ... husbands in toe. Is it a coincidence that Mrs Sarkozy and Mrs Obama both chose similar styles with bow tie collars? Smart Ladies. Michelle O and Carla Bruni seem to have more in common when it comes to fashion than the world may believe.

Michelle Obama wore a custom Thakoon Pixelated Floral Silk Jacquard coat with a reverse print dress underneath with Jimmy Choo kitten heels. Mrs O's purple choice of color signifies an intent to make a pretty but still powerful statement.

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy wore a belted Dior trench in grey suede with Dior flats.

Both First Ladies wore their favorite designers and wore dresses that fell below the knee with figure flattering silhouettes.

Later today in Baden-Baden, Germany where the couples met with Chancellor Angela Merkel and her husband Joachim Sauer, Michelle wore a black dress with a fitted bodice and full, ruffled skirt. Carla opted for a LBD as well with a fitted sheath style. Michelle was bare armed proving to be more daring while the French First Lady donned a high short sleeve and plum clutch.
