At the Diesel Black Gold show, celebrities were not lacking with rapper and actor Common Sense, Kate Bosworth, Nicole Richie, Roisin Murphy, to name a few in the first row. As guests took their seats, a smooth sound track of a man drinking, sighing, giggling, and breathing played to build on the anticipation of the show to begin and it was not in vain. As a jazz band provided the live runway music, the stage was set for a collection heavily influenced by the music, the people and the fashions popular at the height of the jazz music scene.
Diesel Black Gold presented swinging looks of the modern hobo for fall 2009. The major trend of the line were the parachuting pants for women with suspenders and spats for men. There were also oxfords in the form of mules for women that provided a super jazzy look to each ensemble.
The collection was filled with functional separates that were layered and tucked and hung - a flirty collection was the outcome.
There were layers of vests interpreted as ponchos, corsets, and as slips; layers of sequence and some fringe; and high waisted pants with suspenders. Diesel updated their silhouettes with webbed pants and slim fit jackets for women with the texture treated to provide a washed look or a painter's motif. The tuxedo influence was strong in the last few men's and women's looks. They carried a hint of sequens, ballooning slacks, and wing tip lace-up shoes. It was such a swinging show, the message was that even in a low economy our wardrobe can still carry lots of style and character.
View the video of the show below. Watch for the detailing in the backs of the ensembles mainly the corsets, and ties and strings that gave the collection attitude...
