Stefano Pilati and Yves Saint Laurent are at it again with another Manifesto distribution on the streets of major cities across the globe this Valentine's Day. This time it is not only a tote baring the YSL logo (an upside down logo, that is) and their Manifesto (the glossy). No, this time it is a very handy YSL flash drive carrying the Spring/Summer 2009 Manifesto!
On Valentine's Day, this Saturday if you have not bothered to make note, YSL will be taking advertising to new levels with a very clever tactic - loading their newest campaign, featuring Claudia Schiffer who was photographed by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, to USB drives. The flash drives will be designed in a red heart key baring the logo that causes all our hearts to skip a beat. It is being called the Manifesto USB.
Last September, the high end label took to the streets with a similar tote and the Fall 09 Manifesto of the complete YSL collection. This year, the Manifesto comes in a USB port for fashion swooning gals to experience the collection in a more intimate manner. The art will also be available at YSL.com the same day.
USB keys will be distributed on the streets of Paris, New York, London, Milan, Tokyo and Hong Kong on the 14th of February. Over half a million copies of the twenty page Manifesto, accompanied by behind the scenes footage, will be distributed in a cotton tote bag designed by Pilati to the first 2,000 passers by in each city. The distribution location in London has been reported but no word yet of New York; perhaps outside the tents of Fashion Week on Saturday at 11am? Give it a try and snatch one up for me if you are clever enough to grab 2. It would be nice to add a designer flash drive to my heavy collection of drives.
