Michelle surprised all with a maize colored Isabel Toledo dress suit sparkling for the joyous occassion with added jewel details at the neckline. The long awaited ensemble was revealed as President-elect Barack Obama and Michelle Obama began their day with a visit to St. John's Church in Washington prior to his inauguration ceremony where they met with Reverend Luis Leon.
The textured, maize color suit is similar to Michelle's color choice yesterday for the Children's Concert at the Verizon Center. The color choice shows that Michelle can shake it up and will not be put in a box. Isabel Toledo is a Cuban-American designer and is not a first for the First-Lady. Michelle wore Toledo at a New York fundraiser without the designer's cognizance last year.
The retro green colored shoes Michelle wears are Jimmy Choo's "Glacier" pumps.
The soon-to-be First Couple then proceeded to the White House where they had coffee with President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush. The couples then left for the Inauguration site.
Malia and Sasha met with mom and dad at the U.S. Capitol escorted by grandma. The two girls were deliciously dressed. The color choice was very reminiscent of the color designs Isaac Mizrahi sketched for the Obama girls. Malia was dressed in a stark blue overcoat with black trimmings in the form of a scarf and gloves presenting a very grown up young lady. Sasha was dressed in a pink dress coat accented with coral colored scarf and gloves. The girls looked like they belong on the cover of American Girl magazine.
Stay tuned for ball coverage...
Addendum: Malia and Sasha's dress coats are from Crewcuts for Kids by J. Crew.
