The Inauguration weekend celebration is underway and festivities began yesterday with the Whistle Stop train tour. The First Lady to be was dressed in purple and similarly to Vice President-Elect's wife, Jill Biden's, color choice. The outerwear is what stood out with the First lady in a black Maria Cornejo custom designed oversized overcoat - a style made popular by Lanvin - with plum gloves and Jill in a leather belted black coat with a purple scarf and black suede riding boots. It was a frigid weekend so the families were quite bundled up.
Today, at the We Are One: Opening Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial, the First lady chose a camel colored ensemble by Narciso Rodriguez that reflected classic style. The old camel colored coat and skirt guise is an old New York favorite dating back to the 40s. Michelle's a-line favored silhouette was no different today with a camel colored a-line skirt, a studded black belt and a black silk top with white details at the neck causing a popping effect.
The Obama girls wore coats similar to mom's that were angular, high collared dress coats with large buttons - Malia in powder blue and Sasha in vanilla. Michelle's black lined coat added a luxe quality not often found in her attire choice but a lush detail we can all welcome.
