A recent report from the Washington Bureau cited that during the last three months close to half of all small business owners have experienced cash flow problems; this according to a recent survey conducted in May for Discover Business Card by Rasmussen Reports.
Up from 39 percent in April, this number is the highest since Discover launched its monthly small business survey three years ago.
The survey also found that 48 percent of small business owners said that economic conditions for their businesses are getting worse, up from 40 percent in April, and half of these will decrease spending on business development activities, including advertising, inventory and capital expenditures in the next 6 months. Business owners also report having cancelled or postponed vacation and travel plans for this summer, and fewer than one third reported having taken any time off over the last year.
In the Sacramento region, small business owners hope to see some relief from funds obtained through the Economic Recovery Act, but how much and where exactly these funds will go has yet to be determined.
