More local libraries close due to heat

Looking for a place to cool off? You might want to avoid some of the King County and Seattle Public Libraries, as many have closed for the day due to heat and lack of air conditioning. As if four o'clock today, seven branches of the Seattle Public Library have closed including Queen Anne, Green Lake, Fremont, Columbia, West Seattle, and University. These branches are historic Carnegie buildings that do not have air conditioning. The Northeast Branch has a natural ventilation system that conserves energy throughout the year and does not have air conditioning. Seventeen other branche of the Seattle Public Library have central air and will remain open until 8 p.m. tonight. These branches are:

The Monroe Library will host an impromptu showing of "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark" in their meeting room from 2:30 to 5 p.m. tomorrow.
Currently, all but one branch of the King County Library System are open. The Duvall library is closed.
