I guess it isn't a secret anymore:  Horizon Books is closing it's doors on it's Capitol Hill home.  After 30 years on 15th Avenue, the store will be closing it's doors by the middle of the month.  Since last October there have been signs out front proclaiming all books were 50% off.  When I asked a a store employee about the sale, he said they were unsure if they had to move or not and added that the store was struggling to stay afloat.

Yesterday the signs out front changed to 75% off and "going out of business."  Don't let the signs fool you.  The store is not going out of business, but instead moving to a new location on 10th Avenue between Pike and Union streets.  Horizon Books is merging with Recollection Books in the Broadway area of Capitol Hill.  In fact, the new location on 10th Avenue is open for business..

There is still quite a large selection of former bestsellers, romances, mystery, and cooking books.  With everything 75% off it just might be a good time to stock up on collectible and rare books.

Not to worry, the bookstore cat, Malanga, appears to be moving to 10th Avenue with the rest of the books.

The last day to shop at the Horizon Books will likely be March 15th.  The new location is at:  1423 10th Ave (just South of the Comet Tavern) in Capitol HillThe hours are 12-5 p.m. Monday- Saturday, or by appointment.
