Find out more about Danielle:

Danielle Dreger-Babbitt has spent the last 13 years working in bookstores and libraries. She once got grounded for reading in elementary school (it was way past her bedtime). In 2007 she read nearly 200 books, but don't ask her what her favorite one was. Asking a librarian to pick her favorite book is like asking a mother to choose her favorite child. When Danielle isn't reading, she's beating her husband at Scrabble. She can be reached here.

The streets of the Seattle metro area are a giant ice rink.  The Department of Transportation is recommending people stay off the roads.  Even King County Metro is running fewer buses.  The weather forecasters are reporing that there will be another massive snow storm next week.  You might want to stock up on books and DVDs to entertain yourself and the kids now that the schools are all closed for winter break.

It looks like several of the libraries in the King County Library System are closed today.  These include Snoqualmie, Fall City, Muckleshoot, and North Bend.  Many other branches will open late and have modified hours.  Go here for updates.  As of right now, all Seattle Public Library branches will open at noon today.  The Central Library Branch will open at 10 a.m.

The Renton Public Library is closed.

In Pierce County, all library branches are closed.  All of the Tacoma Public Library branches are closed today due to weather and road conditions.

All 21 branches of the Sno-Isle Libraries are open as of this time.  Some branches may be without power or even closed, so call ahead before you venture out.

For more information on li on brary snow closures, check the library websites I have listed in the toolbar on the right side of the page.
