Father’s Day is coming upon us and it is always difficult to find something unique and special for the man who has everything! We are very lucky to have so many talented crafters in our area. Here are some handmade gift ideas to check out:
Instead of a plain t-shirt why not opt for local ‘scene’ design by Sweetbabu’s called Hawthorne Bridge Downtown Portland.

For the avid bicycling dad 1byLiz has designed these very unique clocks using recycled bike parts and reclaimed materials. You can see her work in person on Saturday, June 27th at the Bike Craft at the Multnomah County Bike Fair and on Saturday, June 27-28 at the Recycled Arts Festival at Esther Short Park in Vancouver, WA.

If you are tight on time but want to still give a handmade touch, why not make this gift card holder. It’s easy to put together and all you need to do is buy a gift card from his favorite place!

Start with a 4.5” x 7” piece of cardstock. Make score marks at 1.5” and 4.5”, fold on those score marks. Cover the front panel with patterned paper. Stamp a Father’s Day greeting on separate piece of cardstock, cut out and adhere to front panel. You can also handwrite a greeting. For the inside pocket you will first cover in a coordinating patterned paper. Then to make the pocket, punch two holes in the top corner pocket and insert a brad in each. Now your card is ready for the gift card. This project was inspired by Kristina Werner - you can watch a video tutorial here.
