The Animal Communication Book Club's next "Conversations with Animal Authors" teleconference will feature Leslie Guttman, who will discuss her recently published book, Equine ER: Stories from a Year in the Life of an Equine Veterinary Hospital during a free hour-long event tonight, September 29th, 2009 at 8:00pm (EDT).
Leslie Guttman is an independent journlist, freelance writer, and animal lover who spent a year shadowing veterinarians at the famed Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, which she describes as "the Mayo Clinic of horse hospitals."
Leslie's gift is in her ability to make a reader care passionately about what happens to the horses she chronicles, many of whom are in terrible trouble. She makes you feel like you're in the operating room while life-and-death decisions are being made, while veterinarians are working against the clock to save imperiled foals or to save horses whose legs have been shattered in pasture accidents or in competition.
If you'd like to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes of one of the top equine hospitals, you can join the "Conversations with Animal Authors" call by dialing 616-347-8100 and entering PIN #1063739 tonight at 8pm. Long-distance charges may apply.
If you can't make the call but would like to hear the interview, and read a review of Equine ER, you can do so by visiting The Animal Communication Book Club.
