"Fenway" is waiting for a home at the Boston MSPCA

The MSPCA is brimming with wonderful older felines, and in an effort to place them in loving homes, it has reduced the adoption fee for adult cats to $50 through August 30, 2009, at all five of its Animal Care Centers.

Each year, almost three-quarters of the animals brought into MSPCA facilities are cats, so the nonprofit organization has launched a "Campaign for Cats" to step up public awareness of the plight of these homeless kitties.

Almost half of the 9000 cats who end up at the MSPCA come in with no identification, and so must be classified as "strays," with little or no hope that the cats' original owners will ever be found.  With that in mind, the Campaign for Cats is promoting the importance of feine ID tags, so that some of these lost cats may be reunited with their people.

If you'd like to take advantage of the special $50 feline adoption fee ($100 off the regular price), you can visit any of the MSPCA's venues:

Boston Animal Care and Adoption Center

Cape Cod Animal Care and Adoption Center

Methuen/Nevins Animal Care and Adoption Center

Metro South Animal Care and Adoption Center

Nantucket Animal Care and Adoption Center
