Tentative gray skies didn't dampen the spirits of the dozens of dogs and people who ventured out to participate in today's Sudbury Dog Festival at Best Friends Pet Care on Boston Post Road.
The free event, held to showcase local dogs who are looking for homes through the auspices of Buddy Dog Humane Society, Save A Dog, and Waggin Train Rescue, provided lots of opportunities for kids and canines to mingle and compete for fun prizes.
Among the attending dogs who are looking for homes of their own were Toby (pictured here), a 10-week-old male Spaniel mix who is practically irresistible, and Solomon, an elegant 4-year-old male Cane Corso Mastiff (shown in the slideshow), who was rescued from the euthanasia list in Brooklyn, NY by Waggin Train volunteer Nanette LaRochelle.
There were several local pet vendors on hand to introduce their services, including Healthy Critters Massage Therapy, whose practitioners were offering free sample soothing sessions, Metro West Animal Chiropractic, which provides services to both horses and small animals, and Dr. Kori Bergel Kriedberg of MetroWest Mobile Vet, who runs a house call practice for dogs and cats throughout the greater Assabet Valley region.
