It may sound funny but that thought crossed my mind as I heard about the Nagin administrations plan to move forward with the city hall restoration. The oil wells alludes to Saddam Hussein as his army retreated from Kuwait setting oil wells on fire in their wake and literally burning money in effect. There is no doubt that New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin is upset that the New Orleans City Council (4 members) have decided to halt the purchasing of the Chevron building which many would agree is a good deal on paper but th problem seems to be that its the end of his term as mayor and some on the council have political aspirations of their own . Like always there probably is the chance for some wheelers and dealers to score big contracts with the acquisition of the Chevon building but it is to soon to tell what those contracts maybe. The leader of the opposition to the proposed Chevron move seems to be Arnie Fielkow who has become a bit more vocal as of late as he positions himself as a 2010 New Orleans mayoral candidate . I ran a poll for the New Orleans Mayor's race 2010 and Fielkow is way out in font followed by Stacy Head and John Georges . So it is safe to say that Arnie is slowly  taking on the role as the "great white hope" that white voters are looking for in the next election , or just the best candidate if you want to be politically correct which is often times a wasted effort in the New Orleans political arena . I think the email contoversy over all has hurt Stacy Head's chances because  her image  is seen as being a bit  of a divisive personality ,which is not meant to be negative it just IS WHAT IT IS (I like saying that).

Getting back to Ray Nagin and his retreat from office I wanted to comment on a few  things that are currently going on with the Nagin administration . The first thing is his administration is curently closing ranks

-they have started to unite and to defend themselves against criticism and allegations. The first casualty of this was former Chief of Technology Anthony Jones who was discarded like worn out underwear.

#2-New Orleans City Council is out of the loop

It's fairly obvious that everyone currently on the New Oleans City Council is out of the loop in terms of Nagin' administration . If any of them claim to know what Nagin's plans are then they are mistaken .

#3-Will Nagin set the oil wells on fire

After the chocolate city  comment and the rallying of black voters behind him you are a fool to believe that Nagin is all out of political juice. He could use this power in many divisive ways as he comes to the end of his term that would set New Oleans so far back that the next mayor would be inheriting a political waste land. If he decides to play the  race card again then the city may implode on itself because tensions are high.

#4 Mayor Ray Nagin is as slippery as an eel

If Mayor Ray Nagin were a boxer then he would be Muhammad Ali in his prime because he is the best New Orleans has seen at dodging, dancing, avoiding, and side stepping and spinning then any mayor New Orleans has ever had.

His only problem is during that dodging and weaving he has spun himself into a corner and his only option is doing a political version of the  rope-a-dope(Don't ask) to fend off most of the media , other elected officials ,voters, and possibly a court appearance.
