1) Seattle Sounders FC (1): A week off during the holiday weekend for the Sounders should do wonders for this team as they prep for a showdown versus Western Conference powerhouse Houston, at Seattle, on July 11.
2) Chivas USA (2): Still chilling out, Chivas has accumulated the rest it needs to make a second-half surge. However, Chivas better watch out this week, as they play hose to their fellow Los Angeles club, the surging Galaxy, on July 11.
3) Houston Dynamo (3): After a setback against the aforementioned Galaxy, the Dynamo bounced back with a solid win on the road in Kansas City against the Wizards. Can they keep their road-winning ways in Seattle against the highest-drawing team in the MLS?
4) Chicago Fire (5): The Fire are taking it to teams as of late. Their latest victim, the Colorado Rapids, hadn't lost a home game until the Fire came rolling in. Now, the Fire have a share for the Eastern Conference lead.
5) DC United (4): United tied the Crew in Columbus over the weekend and now their stranglehold on the Eastern lead is shared with the Fire. DC won't be able to regain that lead until July 16 when they host the Rapids.
6) Los Angeles Galaxy (11): No let down vs. New England at home on Independence Day after a big win against the Dynamo the week before. These Galaxy are playing light years better than the early season -- and Beckham is coming back. Watch out.
7) Real Salt Lake (7): RSL didn't exactly come out with the intensity you would have hoped for, hosting the West's worst San Jose Earthquakes. However, RSL did manage a point, which is the only positive, as the Galaxy jumped them in the standings.
8) Columbus Crew (9): Columbus was able to go home with a point against DC. But, at this juncture of the season, the Crew needs three points, especially at home.
9) Toronto FC (10): Toronto is in line to jump the United in the East, as well as jump into the top four of the playoffs, should they win in San Jose against the Earthquakes this weekend.
10) Colorado Rapids (8): After dropping its first game at home all season, the Rapids will look to rebound with another home bout, this time against the ever-improving FC Dallas.
11) Kansas City Wizards (7): As good as they were playing a month ago, the Wizards have come back down to earth.
12) FC Dallas (12): They continue to play better ball but have a tough test this coming week against the hungry Rapids at Colorado, who are fighting for a playoff spot in the West.
13) San Jose Earthquakes (14): Despite having the worst record in the Western Conference, the Earthquakes are a tough team to beat of late. Suring up the defense and adding pressure to the opposition's backfield has helped that cause. With Toronto FC coming to town, expect the Earthquakes to make things uneasy for the potential playoff bound club.
14) New England Revolution (13): Revolution traveled across the country on the Fourth only to be shutout by the Galaxy in L.A. Now with Taylor Twellman on the shelf even longer, things will probably get worse.
15) New York Red Bulls (15): Luckily for New York fans, they are blessed with the Yankees. And the NFL season starts soon, too. BLISS!
