Have illegal aliens taken our jobs? Immigration was one of the biggest issues before the Great Recession. So far this year the only coverage has been Sheriff Joe Arpaio with his city sweeps. Now that the Mesa Police chief George Gascon moved on to San Francisco the people of Arizona may hear even less immigration news.
What if
The 2004 film A Day Without Mexicans was a big hit at the box office in Mexico but didn’t fare as well in the states; except for California where it was filmed. The title is self explanatory California loses one third of the population overnight. Everyone that's left remaining has to find a way to carry on with the jobs loss. If that magically happened in Arizona but "only with illegal aliens"-it’s estimated that there would be well over 500,000 jobs.

It’s reported that since the recession there has been a big drop in illegal aliens entering the country but they are not leaving either. By comparison, look at the Canadian border.
They have a huge Asian influx that often come over in boats to Vancouver, Canada (welcoming them), then cross the US border.
The Great U.S. Mexico Wall
During the Bush administration they began building the Great wall of Mexico along the US/Mexican border. Despite theses efforts drugs, weapons and immigrant smuggling still cross the border, just under it, through hundreds of tunnels.
In June former governor Janet Napolitano, now Homeland Security Secretary, announced grants of about $59 million for local law enforcement efforts to combat crime along the U.S. Mexican border.

Is it working
The immigration system is not working. There’s many schools of thought on the resolution of this subject aside from the extreme ends. One said, “The US is better at keeping qualified immigrants out of the country than the illegals.”
