Veterans, CEO’s, and HR people stand among the job seekers. When the going gets tough the tough get going is more relevant than ever. Tell that to your Congressman; that’s right they’ve been too busy the past year with their own agenda to care about the masses unemployed.
If you’ve kept up with the news some lucky people could land jobs in the grocery business if Fry’s and Safeway don’t settle their dispute. In case the union didn’t notice we’re in the great recession here. This could spell the end for unions nationwide if the market doesn’t improve. It sounds like the Safeway employees may stay on the job but maybe you can work at Fry’s- it will make it a better holiday season.
Recruiters are seeing more and more unusual steps being taken by candidates. Does that mean you should put on an outfit like people do to get noticed in game shows? Getting noticed is crucial when employers get around 700 applicants when they post on the job boards.
If you have a phone interview scheduled and show up at their office instead, you may get the interview but it could backfire on you. Here are the top fields, what’s hot:
- Medical Assistant- various duties (1 year certificate) with starting pay around $12 per hour
- Skin Care/Cosmetologists- facials, makeup (1 year or less programs) salary varies
- Physical-therapy Assistant-work under physical therapist assisting patients (Associates degree) $20-$30 per hour
