Plaid, Polka Dot, Checked, Diamond, Back Seam. All tights. All pantyhose. Just because they are cute on the shelf before you buy them and you want to be ‘fashion forward’ doesn’t mean that you are going to wear them with the right outfit. To really conquer wearing tights the right way with the right garments, just think, “Is this too much?”
When you wear a busy pattern tight like a plaid or diamond, do not wear a busy fabric as well. Your eye doesn’t know where to look first because there is so much going on, and will actually take away from your ensemble, not to mention you might look like a walking ad for TLC’s “What Not to Wear”. Also, try to pick a recognizable pattern like herringbone and do not pick one that is completely crazy. If you have not seen it before and are questioning it, just remember, when in doubt do without out.
