Fashion on Fridays- Twill fabrics

Twill in very in this season, it is that fabric of diagonal lines or ‘twill’ lines. You are going to see them in many different forms, whether it is a jacket, skirt or even tights. Donna Ricco also makes a great twill dress that goes with just about anything and is really an investment piece you can wear again next year.
My favorite to wear is tights. Tights can give you a great look with just your leg wear and then you can pair it with just about anything, like a great pencil skirt, blouse and a nice cropped jacket.
Twill fabrics are woven fabrics, meaning they are interlacing yarns. To get the interlacing pattern, more than one yarn goes over and then under one or more yarns, most of the time it will be 3 or more for the more prominent twill patterns.
There are two main types of twill patterns that you will see. One is the warp-faced twill fabric, which simply means that the twill pattern will appear predominantly on one side. These will be less expensive because fewer yarns are used in the process of making the fabric.
The other twill fabric is called an even-sided twill fabric, which means that you will see the twill pattern on both sides of the fabric. These are going to be more expensive because they use more yarns in making it. So remember, when you go out to buy you twill pieces this season, look at both sides and use your judgment on whether it is a good buy or not.
