October 5, 2009 is National Child Health Day !
In 2008, the Surgeon General requested we take the following pledge:
I pledge to:
- Be a role model by making healthy choices for myself.
- Help children be physically active through everyday play and participation in sports.
- Support children's healthy eating habits.
The Maternal and Child Health Bureau's mission is to strive for a society where children are wanted and born with optimal health, receive quality care and are nurtured lovingly and sensitively as they mature into healthy, productive adults.
So this October, take the pledge. A healthy future is our gift to our children.
