Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to attempted weapon possession in Manhattan Thursday and was sentenced to one year in prison, according to Usmagazine.com.

The Grammy-winner, whose real name is Dwayne M. Carter Jr., is free on $30,000 bail and is set to appear in Sate Supreme Court again on December 15. A sentencing hearing before Justice Charles H. Solomon is then scheduled for February.

According to police, a gun was found on Carter's tour bus in Manhattan in 2007.

Rolling Stone reports that Carter had originally pleaded not guilty to the charges, but after the court ruled that DNA evidence found on the gun would be admissible, the rapper opted for the plea bargain.

Carter is also expecting his fourth child. The mother is singer Nivea, who was once married to Christina Milian's new husband, The Dream. This is Carter's third son in just over a year.
