The Web has served as a cheap and easy venue for local artists and craftsters to sell their handmade goods, through sites like Etsy and ArtFire.com, one of the newest editions to the indie-art community. I want to let you in on an interesting new way for artists to do this: ArtFire recently added social media to the mix for its paying sellers. The Web site launched a Facebook application called the ArtFire Facebook Kiosk so that artists can sell straight from their Facebook pages (click here for an example).

The service shows up as a tab on the owner’s Facebook page. Potential buyers can browse products, and if they decide to buy, they are taken to a pop-up from ArtFire to enter shipping information.

It makes a lot of sense for artists to utilize social media to build exposure, particularly among their own social circle. If you know of other interesting ways artists are using social media, please comment.
