Free condom distribution available to Louisville teenagers
With teen birth rates still above average in the Louisville area, the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness has established a free condom distribution program as part of their teen initiative.
The anonymous “brown bag” program is a cooperative effort with Kentucky Family Planning and Sexually Transmitted Disease programs. Condoms, along with educational material about sexually transmitted disease and proper condom use, are placed in a brown bag and are available without registration or counseling at
several locations. The bags are made available in an open area of the distribution sites where they can be collected discretely.
The objective of the program is to reduce both
teenage pregnancy rates, as well as sexually transmitted diseases among teens by making condoms easily accessible to teens that are sexually active. The program also encourages teenagers to engage in safe sexual practices by giving them the opportunity to acquire condoms without the embarrassment of making drug store purchases.
Businesses and community agencies who would like to participate in the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Condom Distribution Program should call (502) 574-5291.
