Even if you’re the parent of a busy teen there are a lot of great jobs that they can get while still leaving time for extra curricular activities. If you’re wondering whether or not it’s a good idea for your teenager to get a job, then here are some great reasons why the answer should be “YES!”

Interaction with other adults

While teenagers get plenty of interaction with parents, coaches and teachers there is some real benefit to working with adults on the job. Learning about the expectations of an employer, managers, and co-workers is a vital life lesson for your teen to have.

Managing responsibilities

In the real world your teenager will grow up to need to know how to balance a lot of responsibilities all at once, having them get a job now will help them to practice for when it really matters. Learning how to balance school, work, and extra curricular activities is just a small taste of what adults face every day.

What not to do

Call it a subtle method of reverse psychology. Since most jobs aimed for teenagers generally include fast food establishments or babysitting for small children then they are automatically learning what they don’t want to do when they get older. Basically parents can convince their teenagers to go to college and have a career by simply showing them what they don’t want their life to be like.

Money, money, money

Letting your teenager have the ability to earn their own money can be a huge benefit for parents. Not only will this give them the basics of financial responsibility, but it will also save parents from being robbed every time your teen wants to go out with their friends.
