For those with an ear to the indie-rock scene, M. Ward has become one of the leading figures of the last several years. A singer-songwriter with an eclectic creative sense just as likely to replicate swampy blues based melodies as fuzz guitar drenched arrangements that wouldn’t be out of place on 1970s AM radio, he’s already worked with such prominent indie artists as Bright Eyes, Cat Power, and Jenny Lewis, not to mention scoring one of the most critically celebrated albums of 2007 in his collaboration with Zooey Deschanel, She and Him – Vol. 1. His new album, Hold Time, is already garnering critical praise and the first single, Never Had Nobody like You, stands to increase his profile even higher. You can check M. Ward out at First Avenue on April 25th.
