The Indianapolis Indians loss a pair of one-run games to the Louisville Bats on Thursday, 1-2 in Game 1 and 2-3 in Game 2. With the sweep, the Bats extended their  International League West division lead over the second place indians to 6.5 games. And with the Pirate's calliing up the rest of waht talent they had left in Indianapolis, the lack of run production looks to only get worse as we aproach the second half of the season.
June is the make-or-break month of any ball club, and depending on health, where a team finds itself on July 1st triggers the excitement of a legitamit playoff push, or a sign that a firesale is abound before trade deadline on July 30.
The Indians were in prime position to catch the west division after they completed a sweep of  their own over the league leading Scranton Yankees just 10 days ago.
Unfortunately, they would go on to lose three of four at Lehigh Valley. And if that didn't mark the end of the Indian's contention, the transactions by the parent club bled the team of what was left of any power they had left, by calling up Garrett Jones and Jeff Salazar to join Andrew McCutchen and Steve Pearce in Pittsburgh.
Jones got the call-up when the day began when the Pirates traded Eric Hinske to the Yankees for some lower level talent, and, according the Indian's broadcaster and blogger Scott McCauley, by the early afternoon rumors of another move began.

"2:45 UPDATE:

A lot is happening right now with the Indians parent club.  Both the Post-Gazette and By Gosh are reporting that another trade is in the works.  Jen Langosch goes on to say the next trade may move another player from the Indians to the Pirates.  Stay tuned

Take a look at today's line-up and compare it to the Tribe's line-up on June 1st.  Quite a few changes this month.

Two hours later room was made on Pirate's roster for Salazar when they traded Nyjer Morgan (Indians '07-'08) and Sean Burnett ('06, '07, '08) to the Washington Nationals for OF Lastings Milledge and RHP Joel Hanrahan. McCauley reported the day's action on his blog, summing it all up with the move of Salazar.

"Just minutes ago OF Jeff Salazar left the middle of batting practice and he is on the way to Pittsburgh.  Salazar can be added to the roster without the Pirates making a move.  He is hoping to make it to PNC Park before the end of the game.  (Good luck Jeff, watch out for Columbus traffic)

Salazar is hitting .265 with 10 home runs and 36 runs batted in.  He was also a perfect 16 for 16 in stolen bases.  This will be the third Big League stop for Salazar who has time with Colorado and Arizona.

Luis Cruz will replace Salazar in CF tonight...wow, what a day.  "

The Indians now must face what the future has in store for them as, what was once looking to be a promising season, is now on the verge of a collapse due to the Pirates looking to their own future. Another day in the life of a minor league team, always at teh mercy of the MLB affliate; where as much as the fans hope all-star minor leaguers stick around, they want nother more than to join The Show.
