Alice Cooper, one of the most significant Godfathers of metal music is back. Promoting his 25th studio album entitled “Along Came a Spider” released last July, he will be heading to the area to play a series of his unforgettable brand of stage shows. The Alice Cooper band, famous for their theatrical and shockingly entertaining concerts, will be at the Horseshoe Southern Indiana in Elizabeth, Indiana. The concert on Friday, July 21st at 8:00pm, posted on Alice Cooper’s website www.alicecooper.com, will be sure to please. Only 30 minutes from Louisville, the “21 or older” concert is sure to bring back memories and reassure metal fans that Alice Cooper is by no means slowing down.
Alice, originally named Vincent Damon Furnier, pioneered a grandly theatrical and dark brand of heavy metal that was designed to shock as well as being one of the most influential front men in history. Musicians and bands from Rob Zombie, Metallica, and Marilyn Manson among others too numerous to list; have cited Alice Cooper as their influence. Drawing from horror films, vaudeville, heavy metal, straight up rock, the group created a stage show that left fans turning on their night lights at home.
The latest album, “Along Came a Spider” is a conceptual album centering on the story of a serial killer by the name of Spider.
"I kept thinking, 'He wants eight victims because he wants eight legs to be a spider, and he wraps them in silk because that's what a spider would do,'" Cooper said on LiveDaily in the fall of 2008. "Then I started finding out he was romantic; he couldn't kill his eighth victim because he was in love with her. He couldn't take the leg." Specific information for the new album is posted at Cooper's website. Read the Allmusic.com album review at www.allmusic.com.
