You can buy a much needed reminder of home for our troops. During the holidays a nice sum of money was raised for Operation Sauce Drop, the program that delivers spicy and flavorful sauces to our hard-working troops. People donating money for this cause, had the Christmas spirit in their hearts, and felt good about being able to contribute something to thank our troops for their sacrifice. These brave men and women fight daily to ensure our freedom, the least we could do is send them a box of sauces. A little zing, added to their bland military food, is a small reminder of home, and a welcome respite.
Thanks to the generosity of a repeat donor, we were able to mail 15 more gift boxes yesterday, bringing to 498 the total number of free gift boxes sent to our troops serving abroad. Despite these tough economic times, the Carolina Sauce Company continues to match 100% of all donations, and to cover all incidental expenses and donate the labor involved in order to keep sending our brave servicemen and women a free gift of zesty sauces to add some flavor – and a taste of home – to their chow. Unfortunately, donations have slowed down too barely a trickle (more like an occasional drop of rain in a very large empty bucket), and our waiting list of troops signed up to receive a free gift box of sauce has grown to 320. The average cost to purchase and ship a free gift box of sauce to a deployed soldier is about $20. Because we match all donations, a mere $10 donation is all it takes to let a soldier know you care (check out the thank you notes & photos on our OSD Feedback page: http://carolinasauce.com/OSDfeedback.htm). And just $5 gets us halfway to sending a free gift box, which is also a big help.
