Sauce fires up the TroopsWanted to let you know that we received the sauces, and the guys love them.  It's good to know that there are still good Americans out there.  Attached is a picture of me with the sauces just before leaving for an op.  We were after one guy, but managed to nab him and one associate after chasing them through palm groves and flooded farm fields in the middle of the night.  You can tell your donors that we credit the successful capture to your product.  It had the boys fired up.  Thanks again for your support as it means more than you know.

Sincerely,
SFC D.M.

Keep those donations coming, every $10 donation means one more Soldier gets one more box!

With Christmas just around the corner, our thoughts turn to buying gifts, planning feasts and helping others in need. Often, we are faced with the challenge of selecting a gift that is unique, thoughtful, and useful, well, look no further.  "The Carolina Sauce Company, Inc.," based in Durham, N.C., is literally, your "one stop, sauce shop!"  Founded in 2003 by Greg Leman and his wife Gloria Cabado-Leman, their mission was to, "put an end to boring food, by offering the best zesty, full-flavored and fiery products from North Carolina and around the world, at a fair price."  By keeping the business "online," they have managed to keep overhead low, thus offering their sauces at lower prices.

With a wide range of sauces to spice up dull, and bland food, your shopping list should be complete.  Hot Sauces are available in every range of heat, and beg you to taste them, with colorful and descriptive names, like, Acid Rain, Black Mamba Venomous, Bone Suckin’ Hiccuppin’, Scorned Woman, Louisiana Swamp Scum, and Liquid Stoopid, just to name a few.  They also carry BBQ sauce, salsa, pasta sauce, mustard, jerks, and curry, as well as wing sauces, marinades and dressings.  For those in need of a special item, they also have kosher, low or sodium free, low or no carb, and organic selections.

After a few years of success, Gloria was inspired to do something more with the company.  When her brother-in-law, stationed in Iraq, received one of her many care packages, he stated that everyone serving with him loved using the sauces.  With the large numbers of personnel the military needed to feed, and everything being prepared in such huge batches, it left little room for taste.  And an idea was born, "Operation Sauce Drop" was created as a nonprofit addition to the business, where loved ones or troops themselves could choose from seven different gift boxes, and have them sent to the APO or FPO address, free of charge.

Currently they have 322 troops on a waiting list for gift boxes.  Why are there so many on the waiting list, you ask?  MONEY is the answer, or lack of money is more accurate.  Carolina Sauce Co. matches every donation 100%, but the problem is, there are not enough donations.  The owners have only one employee, and among the three of them, they donate the time and labor to box and ship each request.  The wholesale cost of the gift box and shipping is $20, so with every $10 donation, the company matches it with another $10, which has enabled them to double the amount of gift boxes sent.  Yet, the donations are slow to arrive, hence the huge waiting list, leaving our troops, to eat bland boring food as they protect the American way of life.  It is clear, that these wonderful people are doing all they can, to insure our brave troops a taste of home, the question is, what are we doing to show our support and gratitude?

Military troops, stationed oversea’s are, by now, probably thinking of home and wishing they were here to celebrate the holiday with family and friends.  The rest of us, wrestle with little more than deciding between turkey and ham, isn’t it time we all step up, and make a donation?  One little $10 donation, from one person reading this, will send a gift box to one troop.  Imagine if ten people, reading this, send a $10 donation, now imagine fifty, now one hundred.  So everyone, get out your wallet, click on the link below, and give as much as you are able.  Let’s show our brave military how much we appreciate their sacrifice and commitment, by giving them a little taste of home for the holiday.
