DHL Hybrid Truck

Deutsche Post DHL was recently awared the award for outstanding environmental technology for their Atego BlueTec hybrid truck.  Although modern hybrid technologies are more then a decade old, it's only in recent years that modern "full hybrid" systems have been proving their worth on larger vehicles.  The winning vehicle is one of their twelve ton hybrid trucks winning in the category of "Emissions Reduction, Treatment, and Sequestration of Environmentally Hazardous Substances".  The German state of Baden-Württemberg presented the award for making a significant contribution toward increasing resource efficiency and reducing strain on the environment.

Currently companies like DHL and UPS have yet to put full hybrids into duty use in the USA, but awards like this one and continued excellent performance and service records may change that in the coming years, along with demands for ever cleaner emissions.
