Smoothies make a great breakfast or post-workout energy replenisher. Drinking smoothies can be fun, refreshing, nourishing, and they are very versatile. There are numerous ways to mix a smoothie. You can make them with fruit, greens, no dairy, with dairy, raw, gluten-free or any way you like. The key to great smoothie making is to use a little creativity and have a willingness to be adventurous.
Green smoothies offer you a chance to enjoy raw green vegetables without making a salad. You can start your day off consuming energizing and cleansing leafy greens with very little prep time. Hiding leafy greens in your children’s fruit smoothies is a wonderful way to give them the essential nutrients their growing bodies need without having to engage in an exhausting battle of trying to get them to eat their vegetables. Be sure to add small portions of leafy greens at first and work your way up over time.
Fruit smoothies can be used as a substitute for ice cream if you’re trying to lose weight, or you want to limit or eliminate dairy from your diet. Using a frozen banana in your smoothies provides the perfect creamy texture most of us crave without the added calories and fat found in ice cream. So, give in to your cravings by enjoying a healthy, nutritious, and delicious smoothie.
