Coming soon is the movie “2012’ with mass destruction of global landmarks smashed to bits at worlds end. This movie gives new meaning to the list of "1,000 Places to See Before You Die." Or at least the Top 10 you want to see before you kick the bucket.
Our landmarks inspire us and define us especially after the events of 9/11. To see these symbols smashed to bits one by one fills us with dread and terror, awaking deep emotions that producers hope will bring results at the box office. At the very least, the thought of the loss should inspire us to get out and accomplish our must-see lists.
Though expensive travel is down due to the economy there is a renewed interest in the National Parks and Landmarks and many deals and affordable options are available for travel today. There is also a resurgence of nostalgia and interest in historical sites we want our children to see. In the movie “Michael,” even the Archangel travels cross country to see the largest ball of twine and the biggest skillet before his feathers fall off.
Hopefully, the movie will inspire people to think about what is important to them, to make a list, and to take motivated action rather than be stopped by fears of future unknowns.
