We have talked about the importance of a great resume, now let's talk about the cover letter because it is equally important.
You can use the same resources you used for the resume to develop a great cover letter. Remember the link:

Just like the resume, you should create the first draft of your cover letter, highlighting the important aspects of your resume. Always customize the letter to fit the position for which you are applying.
Speaking from experience, there is nothing worse as a recruiter than reading a canned letter that doesn't fit the position available. That will put your resume in the "no" pile quickly.
As with your resume, you will need more than version of your cover letter. Always try to address it to a specific person; and make sure your spelling is accurate!
Also, do not get long-winded with the cover letter either. One page and one page only!
Do not include a photo of yourself, there was a time (albeit very short period of time) when it was stylish to include a photo - never do this. If you are asked to provide a photo make sure you have a clear understanding of why the request is being made and how the photo will be used.
Which brings me to one final point. Think about the photos you have posted on Facebook and MySpace or any other site. Perspective employers often look you up to get a little background before the meet you personally.
That crazy picture from the family reunion or summer party may not be so impressive to an employer, so think before you post - you never know who is going to see it.
Good luck you with your job search and we will talk again soon.
