Social Media Marketing can seem confusing and complicated to many people. However, it really is quite simple if you know what to do. Here are some keys to follow to make your social media marketing simple.

1.    Decide who you want to target with social media marketing. It is crucial to have a target market or possible three-five different target markets. You cannot market to everyone and if you try to do this you will end up getting no where.

2.    Develop a plan to target them and then connect with them and then engage in conversation with them. An important part of social media is engaging and having conversations with people.

3.    Have a plan in place to build a list and to stay in contact long-term with those with whom you build relationships. This is a part that many people forget but it is crucial to your long-term social media success. You must focus on building a list and then staying in contact with the people on that list.

4.    Spend 1-2 hours per day working for social media marketing. This is ideal in order for you to get the most out of it. However, if time is of a premium know that it is possible to send less.

5.    Offer value via content, notes, videos, quotes, free reports and other interesting bits of information. People are craving valuable information so you need to be the one to give it to them.

6.    Make sure people know how to buy from you. Although this seems obvious, too many people fail to ask for the sale.

7.    Make sure to take the relationship offline when appropriate. Starting relationships online and then taking them offline via the phone or meeting in person will bring much better results.

8.    Take advantage of social media to invite people to events both teleseminars and offline events. This is a great way to get a large turnout as well as make more money and develop stronger relationships.

9.    Avoid spam like the plague. There is already too much spam on social media. Avoid contributing.

10.    Have fun. Social media is meant to be fun so make sure that it is fun for you.
