A preliminary report released by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office finds that Senator Ted Kennedy's (D-MA) Affordable Health Choices Act, a bill with sweeping health care reform, is projected to cost over $1 trillion dollars over the next 10 years while only reducing the uninsured by 16 million.
This is troubling news for the Obama Administration and Congressional Democrats, and should serve as a warning sign that the public health insurance option is extremely wasteful and inefficient. Republicans in both houses should use this as a springboard to give a more sensible, cost-effective option to the public.
