MURPHY CREEK PRO HONORED: Leslie Core-Dravecky, head pro at Murphy Creek Golf Course in Aurora, recently received the 2009 PGA Colorado Section Horton Smith Award. The award recognizes a PGA Professional for outstanding and continuing contributions to professional education.
SADDLE ROCK SUPERINTENDENT WINS AWARD: Saddle Rock GC head superintendent Joe McCleary received a Colorado Open Space Alliance Blue Grama Award for Outdoor Recreation/Environmental Education Program. McCleary earned the award for showing innovation and leadership in the area of recreational management and or environmental education.

RED TEE OPEN: Are you looking for a different challenge on the golf course? Try the Red Tee Open at Saddle Rock on Saturday. The format is simple: The two-person, best ball tournament tees every ball from the red tees with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. All players must sport a USGA Index handicap. One player must be a 4.9 index or lower. The max handicap for the other player is a 10.0. If player have higher handicaps, they won't received a handicap higher than those numbers.
