Merhaba Hedo Turkoglu.
For those of you not caught up on your Turkish, that is how you say hello to your newest Blazer. Earlier today, Turkoglu agreed in principle to a deal with Portland. Terms were not disclosed, but the deal is believed to be close to Turkoglu's 5 year, 50 million dollar asking price.
His addition gives the Blazers a proven playoff performer who is unafraid to take (and make) shots with the game on the line. His presence will undoubtedly make teams think twice before double-teaming Brandon Roy and Lamarcus Aldridge, a common occurrence in the Houston series.
It was believed the Toronto Raptors were planning to offer Turkoglu 60 million, but it appears cap issues kept them from being able to go that high. That may have ultimately led to Turkoglu's final decision.
Of course, as with any high-profile free agent signing, there is risk involved. Be that as it may, this is an exciting move that can only heighten expectations for the 2009-2010 Blazers.
