Actor Edward Gero will be starring in Ford Theatre’s A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. The play opens November 23 and runs until January 3. This timeless classic is an adaptation from Michael Wilson and will be directed by Michael Baron. A Christmas Carol is a play that is appropriate for ages 5 and up. Ford's Theater has also made a study guide available to the public on its website in an effort to educate and thoroughly involve the theatergoer in the history, biography, and designs of this production over time. This guide is a free downloadable PDF file that is meant to accompany the production as a type of pre-production program.
After taking a sabbatical from George Mason University where he teaches advanced theater courses, Edward Gero, a four time Helen Hayes award-winning actor, now stars as Ebenezer Scrooge in Ford's latest production. With a furrowed brow, tight hold of his money, and a sour attitude toward the joys of Christmas traditions, Scrooge is the quintessential curmudgeon. This Christmas is different however, as Scrooge gets a few ghostly visits from spirits of the past, present, and future. Their objective is to make Scrooge change his greedy and heartless ways. Scrooge has been warned that if he does not change, he will be doomed to live chained and restless for eternity in the spirit world. Watch as Scrooge learns about transformation, compassion, and redemption as only Edward Gero can do it!
Starting November 10 through November 19 Ford’s Theatre will be auctioning off the premium seats of their most popular performances, and they will also auction off a VIP package featuring Christmas Carol tickets and a stay at the Ritz-Carlton in Georgetown.
