There is growing concern in Washington and across America that a second stimulus package may be coming out of Congress. President Obama and Democratic leaders appear to be split about whether or not another one is on its way. The first stimulus package has failed. Democrats hailed it as landmark legislation that will save our economy and that unemployment will not go above 8%. Well, now we know how completely wrong they were. Our economy has not gotten better and our unemployment rate is at 9.5%. President Obama himself said that unemployment will go above 10%. On Sunday, Vice President Biden admitted that we “misread the economy.” I’m assuming by “we” he meant the Democratic Party, seeing how this was exclusively their $787 billion bill. Only 2 Republicans out of both houses of Congress combined supported this bill.

A second stimulus bill is out of the question and should be taken off the table. We are up to our eyeballs in debt and the powers at be are attempting to pass a $1 trillion healthcare bill, on top of an $11.5 trillion national debt. Is anyone else as alarmed as I am about this? Some of the Democratic Party’s economists are not only calling for another stimulus package, but an even bigger one! When does this end? History has shown us that government intervention in the economy does not work. It exacerbates the problem and extends the downturns in the market by years. The Great Depression should not have lasted from 1929 to 1941. It was actually over around 1935, but President Roosevelt and the Democrats in Congress overplayed their hand and extended economic problems another five years. Let this be a lesson to the people in Washington. Your first bill didn’t work, so that does not mean pass a second one.

Day after day, people get upset with me for attacking the Democrats and not the Republicans over issues. Well I have news for you; the Democrats have large margins in both houses of Congress, making the Republicans powerless, and a Democratic president. Who do you want me to get mad at, the party in power or the one that can’t do anything? Like it or not, this is now the Democratic Party’s and Barack Obama’s problem. George Bush and Republicans cannot be blamed for your shortcomings anymore. The stimulus bill, the cap and trade bill, the bailouts, healthcare reform, and doubling the national deficit have all been done on your watch over the past six months. Take some responsibility for the consequences of your actions. I am happy to say that the American people are waking up and seeing what is actually going on. Democratic poll numbers are declining across the country and their constituents are angry about what they are seeing happen to their country. I hope that some common sense smacks the people in Washington in the head before they further harm our economy and our American way of life.
